Thank you to ALL the parents who were able to chaperone our field trip to El
Morro. It was a beautiful day and kids had a grat time!
* Homework packet will be different for the next 2 weeks. Anne has assigned
the students some background reading on Explorers. Students will need to
read from the text book and answer questions that have been assigned. Both
the assignment and textbook will be due Friday, October 17.

October 16: No School-Inservice
October 27: Louise begins solo teaching for 3 weeks.

Looking forward to our 9th week of school:
Writing: Students have revised and edited their paragraph and are now typing
their final drafts. Student who do not finish their final draft by Friday,
will have to complete it at home.
Students will learn how to develop strong idea in their paragraphs. Students
will learn to organize their ideas into a bubble web and then structure
their paragraph: Topic sentence, body sentences (all the details with
examples), and a closing sentence.
Reading: Every student should be reading for 30 minutes each night and
recording it on their log sheet. Students have been given their Book Bingo
Summary directions. You can also down load all the paper work for Book
Bingos on this website. Book Bingo Summaries will be due Friday, November 7.
*Students have been placed in their leveled reading groups. Each group has
decided on leaders for each section of their books. Students have started
reading their books and will meet in groups to have book talks. I will be
working in small groups, working on guided reading to help students with
reading strategies and comprehension.
Spelling:
**Students need to study their words for 5 minutes a day. Students
may not see their words for a couple of weeks, words will be recycled, that
is why it is important to review their word list for a couple of minutes
each day. Each student has their own spelling tablet with their own
spelling lists.
Math: This week we are focusing on finding volume for 3-D shapes, such as
prisims. L x W x h= volume
Science: No Science for 6 weeks.
Social Studies: The students have started a unit with Anne and her student
