care of your property and the property of others.
Hands

the rules for where you are. Rules for the playground are different from rules
in the classroom.

earned.
Resolve
conflicts peacefully.
Individual Behavior Management
All students have a clothes pin with their
name on it. Their pin is posted on the behavior stick. The stick has a
section for each of the following colors: gold, yellow, orange, red. All pins
start the day on gold for “Excellent Behavior.” Throughout the day, if a
student’s behavior warrants, his/her pin is moved to the yellow section for
“Warning.” If the inappropriate behavior persists, the pin is moved to the
orange section for “Time-Out” (see below) and finally red for “Note Home or
Call Parent” (see below).
Time-Out Responsibilities:
1.Why am I here? (child explains to teacher)
2.What could I have done differently?
3.What is my plan for next time?
*As the year progresses, the child will be expected
to write the answers to these questions on a special form.
Note Home/Call Parent
Parents will be involved with developing their
child's action plan for successful behavior.
*Students who follow all rules and stay
on green for the entire day will receive an A.C.E. Award and will have their
name automatically entered into our weekly drawing for a super prize!
Team Behavior Management
Team Marbles
Students work in teams throughout the school day.
To reward teams that work cooperatively, we use a marble collection system to
help the teams earn prizes for great team work. Each team has a plastic
container on their table. Teams can earn marbles throughout the day for
helping and encouraging others, actively listening, demonstrating that they
can follow directions during our lessons, and keeping their team area neat and
organized. Marbles are placed in their containers and are counted at the end
of the week. Team members each receive rewards based on the number of marbles
they have earned. Teams can also lose marbles for demonstrating uncooperative
behavior. The great news is that they can earn their marbles back when they
have worked together to improve their team's behavior. Click here
to see what the rewards are for collected team marbles.
Fishbowl Rewards
Teams that demonstrate outstanding team work are
awarded with the fishbowl award (a stuffed fish toy). These are teams the
teacher wants the other teams to watch and learn from. These "fishbowl"
behaviors are ones that should be seen within all the teams. The fish may
"swim" to various teams throughout the day depending on which team is showing
"fishbowl" behaviors. The team with the fish on their table at the end of the
day, receives 10 marbles for their popcorn container.
Tickets
Students can earn tickets or A.C.E. Awards for
demonstrating good work in Academics, Citizenship, or Effort. Students write
their name on the back of their ticket(s) and place them in a container. Every
Friday the teacher draws one girl's name and one boy's name from the ticket
containers to win a super-duper prize from the prize bags. The more tickets
the students receive, the better their chances of having their name picked!
Mystery Students
Each day Miss Romero chooses two students, one boy
and one girl, to be our Mystery Students. The names of these children are
placed in an envelope and are a "mystery" to the rest of the class. Throughout
the day, Miss Romero monitors these children's behavior, work ethic, and
general character traits. At the end of the day, the names of the Mystery
Students are revealed and if they didn't break any of our class rules and
turned in all classwork and homework assignments, then these students receive
a prize from the treasure chest. Students don't know if they are the Mystery
Student until the end of the day, so they must be on their best behavior all
day, everyday!
