Monday, December 14 Find your favorite quote from the Kite Runner, and write about it. Then illustrate it in AJ Watch UN Human Rights. Which is your favorite and why? Write a list of all 30 rights. Wednesday, December 9 Read chapter 9 of Kite Runner Discuss Stereotypes in groups Official final exam essay is yours now, and be sure to have it completed by next Wednesday Create a poem about you, with a minimum of 17 lines. Due on Monday, using a typed font that is appropriate to you. Monday, December 7 Read The Kite Runner Work on Loyalty pages in Artist Journal - Due Friday Friday, December 4 Watch interview with Wiesel, and take notes Wednesday, December 2 Read a lot of The Kite Runner. Have chapter 6 completed and your butterfly by Friday Monday, November 30 Turn in essays with the following questions answered: 1. What is your thesis statement? How is this effective? 2. What are three effective word choices you used? 3. How many paragraphs do you have? Which is your strongest and why? 4. What did you do well in this paper? 5. What would you like me to look for when grading this paper? Work on butterfly pages in Journal. I will be looking for understanding of the Butterfly book, and use of either hard pencil or sewing needle. Due Friday. Read Kite Runner. Be ready for a quiz on chapter 4. Monday, November 23 Grade Night Tests Check out The Kite Runner Look at four different pieces found in our books, I Never Saw Another Butterfly.Take notes on each and then use this information to create a butterfly in your Artist Journal. HW: Essay Schindler Friday, November 20 ACT notes and practice III. Wednesday, November 18 Finish the movie and the notes Turn the notes into a four paragraph essay, one intro and three body paragraphs. Skip a conclusion for this time. Times New Roman 12. Due on Monday after Thanksgiving. I will be looking for strong thesis statement, topic sentences, commentary and transitions. Be sure to be finished with triangle pages in Artist's Journal, as this will be your next grade. Friday, November 13 Holocaust museum. Using Artists' Journals, next section is about holocaust imagery. Include the triangle in it, and depict this however you deem appropriate. Monday November 9 Night Test Continue with Schindler's List notes Friday, November 6 Change of plans. Night test is on Monday, and you may use your reading journal on it, so make sure your final draft is ready to turn in on Monday. Your Artists' Journal is due on Friday. Students watch DVD of “Youth for Human Rights. When completed, they talk about, in groups of 2-4, which they feel are most important. 2. Present these four to class for a grade. Monday, September 14 Research Billy Joel song, two aspects Choose a person or significant event in your lifetime, actually chose two, and write about them. So now you have four aspects of life from 1950 - present day to learn about and present to your class. Decide who your hero is, and come in ready to work regarding heroes on Wednesday. Friday, September 11 Watch "We Didn't Start the Fire" video of Billy Joel's Emulate his song with all the events that ocurred during your lifetime. Take notes on How to be successful and give commentary about one. Look at Hero's Journey Cycle and discuss ___________________________ Wednesday, September 9 Watch video and discuss in SSW how we see happiness in the people. Watch Obama's speech, write three quotes down, and give commentary for each. Think of a symbol that describes you, like an apple symbolizes a teacher, and write it on a note card, which we will use on Monday.
