I send a monthly calendar of activities for my students' homework along
with an additional weekly poem. The weekly poem includes three different
tiers of ability level activities. This supplement is for my families that
would like additional work for their child. Circling letters, counting the
number of words in a line, finding sight words, etc. complement the shared
reading and writing that we do in our classroom. Although not mandatory, I
would really appreciate it if my families participated in this homework poem.
The curriculum for 1/2 day classes (2.5 hours a day) is the same for full day
(6 hours a day). I love challenges but I also need my families participation
in helping me to prepare their child for a successful academic career. I will
sometimes add handwriting sheets with their names and letters or sight words.
This will assist the students with fine motor skills and proper
handwriting. Your child may need your guidance holding their pencil
correctly, using the lines in the paper properly, etc. If you have any

Remember to celebrate the small things in life...like writing one letter
perfectly! One small celebration leads us to big successes in Kindergarten!
