March News: Please make sure to check the "Class Schedule" tab each month to view the academic goals and standards that we will be focusing on in the classroom. Reinforcement with these skills at home is necessary in order to help our children find success in school. I would love for each family to sit down and read a book together each evening for at least 15 minutes. This can be a parent reading to a child or a child reading to a parent. Every student will be bringing home books on their level. Please make sure to send them back to school daily and practice them at home nightly. Third quarter assessments are coming up this month. It is important that children have the sight words and spelling words mastered. Children will be required to read and write sentences using these words. More details on the exact dates and skills being assessed will be posted when it gets closer. Keep watching! Finally, please talk with your child on a nightly basis about expected behaviors and participation in the classroom. I have enjoyed reinforcing positive actions within the room and would love for reminders at home to be a regular discussion when talking about our expectations for academic success. I am working hard to help make your child an independent, responsible leader through demonstration of honesty and self-motivation within our community of learners. Please feel free to contact me at any time to set up a parent conference. I am available most evenings right after school. Ms. Amanda Harper 504-220-0167
