Welcome to room 67's website! We have had a fantastic educational journey the first and second trimesters and have just a few weeks left of our school year. How time flies when your day is full of many wonderful adventures and challenges. We end the third trimester with great excitement...our Criterion Referenced and interim tests are behind us and many fun activities await: Field Day, a Solar Energy Cook-Out, Classroom Auction, and much more! Our reading series, Trophies, will provide our classroom selections for the remainder of the school year. We continue to learn our Writing Traits; Ideas, Organization, Word Choice, Voice, Sentence Fluency, and Conventions. We have completed our Ideas, Organization, and Word Choice traits and have moved on to learn Voice. Additionally, we continue to write friendly letters to our Trucker Buddy, Trucker Robert, on a monthly basis. He is currently traveling around the country with the Shrek tour, delivering the massive equipment needed to put on such a musical show. We took our eighteenth and final challenge math test of the school year on the topic of Multiplying Greater Numbers on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. A special thanks to the many students that were up to the challenge. Congratulations to Kate, Hannah, Lambdin, Savanna, Jillianne, Derek, Brendan, Nate, & Serena for receiving 80% or higher on the test. They will be completing challenge work throughout this topic unit. Challenge work is work that is based on the same mathematical topics completed in the classroom but presented and assessed at a higher level. Additionally, Robert, Michaela, Julianna, Kaysa, & Kelsey received between 70%-79% on the challenge test and will have the opportunity to choose to complete challenge work or not. In science, we began our final science unit, Energy. We will learn about different sources of heat; light, heat, electrical, and solar, as well as how these heat sources are used in our daily lives. In social studies, we have begun an Economics unit.
