What is the grading policy for this class?

1. Classwork 50% of the final grade
2. Assessment 40% of the final grade
3. Homework 10% of the final grade

During the first and third marking periods final exams will be included in 
the assessment grade percentage.  At the end of the first and second 
semester, the final exam will count as ten percent of the semster grade.  
Five percent for each quarter in the semester.

How often is homework given?

Homework will be given every week but not on the weekends.  This includes 
weekly reading assignments, written work or research which will help 
students to understand topics in American history or to prepare for in class 
presentations.

Will extra credit be offered in this class?

No.  Students must complete all assigned work offered in this course but 
enrichment assignments will be offered for students to gain grade credit.

Should students brink their textbooks to school daily?

No.  Textbooks for American history are provided in the classroom but on 
specific occasions including textbook check days, students must bring their 
books to school.

Will students be allowed to do research in school for projects?

Yes but mostly during PAWS days, during the HIstory Club safter school, or 
when students are given independent research time to work on projects.

Are accelerated classes in this course honor classes?

No but they are designed to enrich student learing through guided practice, 
indepth research, critical thinking skill activities,performance and 
alternative assessment.

Are students allowed to makeup assignments?

Yes, but when deadlines for turning assignments in are posted and those 
assignments have not been turned in, students will lose total grade credit 
for those assignments.
