Mission
GATE is a CCSD research-based program providing support for gifted and talented students whom benefit from differentiated curriculum and instruction separate from assigned grade levels. The program is for 3-5 grade students. The purpose of the GATE program is to provide an enriched learning environment for students whose intellectual abilities create this special educational need, which was determined through testing. This environment is safe yet challenging, both academically and socially. Students who meet eligibility requirements have the opportunity to fully develop their potential through curriculum that explores Universal Concepts through global themes promoting complexity and higher-level thinking skills. Inquiry and divergent thinking are embedded in the GATE curriculum to encourage gifted students to become consumers, as well as problem solvers and producers, of knowledge. Students are provided opportunities to realize their potential and become critical thinkers.
