How should I enter the the library this year?
HS/MS Library Expectations:
Quiet work is expected!
Check in when you arrive (show pass/agenda).
Only 4 students per table.
No food, beverage or gum please.
Show respect for yourself and others.
Upon entering the library all students will:
• Pleasantly greet the person at the circulation desk.
• Present the pass (agenda) to the person in charge.
• Sign in on the sheet.
• Find a place where you will sit.
• You may be asked to take
the short online orientation to become familiar with our services and rules.
Pick up the orientation paper at the desk. Fill it out and return to the
desk.
• Get materials out or search for what you need.
• Get to work.

What are some of the consequences/rewards in the library this year?
If a student does not meet the expectations the following will occur:
• 1st offense: The student will be verbally warned.
• 2nd offense: The student will be moved to a different location in
the library.
• 3rd offense: The student will be asked to leave, receive detention
with Mrs. Balk or in the detention room.
• 4th offense: Student will be referred to the office.
Great things can happen when you are working in the library!
o You can get your work done in a positive, helpful atmosphere!
o You will learn new things in new ways.
o Grab a puzzler, complete it correctly, and get a treat!
o You may be asked to create or contribute to fun Web 2.0 activities
such as the book blog or Survey Monkey!

When is the library open?
7:30-3:25 every day!

How do I check out a book or other material?
Bring it to the circulation desk for checkout. Four weeks for books,
overnight for videos, 3 days for other media.

How do I get a pass to the library?
Ask your study hall teacher (only 3 students per class), get a pre-signed
pass from your subject area teacher, or get a lunch pass before 1st period.

Housekeeping
Bathroom use:
• Ask Mrs. Balk when you need to use the restroom.
• Sign out at the desk and sign back in when you return.
• You must have your agenda to go out of the room.
• No more than 2 students may be out of the library for the bathroom
at any time.
