About The Librarian/Media Specialist

I am not your typical "hair in a bun" librarian.  I enjoy speaking loudly, 
listening to rock music, working with students and yes, reading (gasp!).  I 
would gladly help anyone with finding a great book, locate information, or 
help with the computers.

Objectives of the Library

Each student should leave the Thousand Islands Schools knowing how to 
become "Independent Information Problem Solvers".  I expect students to: 

Locate appropriate sources
Use the right resource quickly and effectively
Produce information products in a fun and creative way!

The types of things we do include:  learn how to navigate the Internet, 
access different valid print information sources (encyclopedias, atlases, 
almanacs), use online databases.  Students will become aware of different 
types of literature and be exposed to a range of authors. The media center 
will help students in all classes become better at reading for information, 
and using sources appropriately.
