Reading Notebook:
The homework should only be taking you 10-15 minutes each night. There
should only be 2/3pages (and sometimes a book to read). If you're finding
it to be more than that, then your child may not be writing it down
correctly. Feel free to contact Mrs. Austin at any time. Also,

** Extra Blue-Ticket Opportunities:
Each Monday, the children bring home a "Family Times" Newsletter.
Please take 5 minutes to sing the Rhyme Chart on the front, play the game on
the inside, or complete one activity on the back.
Each Thursday, the children bring home a "Buddy Autograph Book".
Please take a few minutes and allow them to read the book to a few family
members/friends/neighbors, and encourage them to obtain an autograph (on the
back of the book) from those people.
On Fridays, children may
At the beginning of each Mathematics Chapter, the children bring home a
cover sheet (blue - labeled with the new chapter on it). On the back,
there's a letter to the parents and an activity to complete. Please take a
few minutes to do this with your child.
At the beginning of each Mathematics Unit, there is also a book that
comes home to be read (about the main skill in that new chapter). Please
help reinforce the skills we learn here at school, by reading this with your
child.
At the start of each month, the students have been studying about a
different "Solid Shape". They have the opportunity to bring in something
that has that shape, in order to earn a "free" blue ticket. They explain
and explore the shape with their peers. This has been a big hit in the
classroom!
Thank you for all that you do at home! I know life is busy, and it's
sometimes hard to find the time to do these little "extra activities".
However, it's SO important to help your child make these connections! Thank
you.
For each of the above tasks, the students can earn "extra blue
tickets". At some point, our class will be able to participate in a "Class
Auction". At this time, they'll be able to spend their blue tickets
to "buy" things during our auction. I've been encouraging the students to
save their tickets up for this upcoming special event!
