Curriclum - This class is working on the histroy of Rock & Roll. We are currently in the 50's decade, studying Elvis...we will be having a test soon on all the Rock & Roll music of the 50's.

Major Project will be starting April 27th and will be due May 11.

Rock & Roll Research Project

Your will be graded on the following:

        I.      Biography – Choose any group/artist we have not studied in class

     II.      Poster

   III.      Presentation

  IV.      School Appropriate Song

I - Biography Outline:  You are to write a biography on your group/artist.  It must be typed (not hand written) Your essay must be a least 4 paragraphs long and must include the following:

1.      An Introduction – naming your artist and background information

a.       Where they were born

b.      How old are they

c.       How they got started in music

2.      A description of the performer and his/her music

a.       What type of music is it (pop, hip-hop, rap, country, rock, etc.)

3.      Name several songs/albums your artist has recorded

4.      Do they have any positive aspects?

a.       Have they received any awards?

b.      Is your artist a role model?

c.       Has your artist broken any records?

d.      Do they support any charities or do community service?

e.       How long has your artist been recording music?

f.        What about your musician makes them important?

                                                                           i.      Do many age groups enjoy their music?

                                                                         ii.      Is your artist listened to in other countries?

                                                                        iii.      How many records have they sold?

                                                                       iv.      How many concerts have they performed?

5.      Conclusion

II - Poster:  Should have pictures of your artist/group, plus a little bit of background info

III - Presentation:

You will want to practice reading and presenting your essay at home first.  You should work on:

;         Eye contact

;         Clear speaking voice and good pace

;         Varying tones

;         Clear knowledge of what you wrote about.

IV – Song: should not have swear words in it.
