Welcome to the AMS website! At Arlington Middle School, "we provide a secure, healthy environment that fosters intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. We encourage a variety of experiences, opportunities, and services in a supportive, structured community. We are committed to excelling while remaining flexible in responding to our dynamic society."

Arlington Middle School embraces the concepts of "Building the Right Stuff." Students are expected to demonstrate respect, responsibility, safety, and integrity in our school. Staff will help students by teaching and modeling how to meet these expectations at the beginning and throughout the school year. Special posters are displayed throughout the school to remind us all of the expectations for proper behavior.

RESPECT: Showing high regard for school staff, school property, and the school community.

RESPONSIBILITY: Meeting obligations for school including being on time, having materials to be a successful student, doing all assigned work and following school rules.

SAFETY: Protecting you, others, and the environment from harm.

INTEGRITY: Adherence to a code of values, honesty, and sincerity. A person with integrity is someone who stands up for what is right, is a friend to others, and displays honesty.

Thank you to students and parents for supporting the four pillars of our school community. Together, we can make this a great school year!

Sincerely,

Mr. Carroll and Mr. Hackett
Mr. Richard Carroll

The Dignity for All Students Act
www.p12.nysed.gov/dignityact/
New York State’s Dignity for All Students Act (The Dignity Act) seeks to provide the State’s public elementary and secondary school students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus, and/or at a school function. The Dignity Act took effect on July 1, 2012. This legislation amended State Education Law by creating a new Article 2 – Dignity for All Students. The Dignity Act also amended a New York State Education Law regarding instruction in civility, citizenship, and character education by expanding the concepts of tolerance, respect for others and dignity to include: an awareness and sensitivity in the relations of people, including but not limited to, different races, weights, national origins, ethnic groups, religions, religious practices, mental or physical abilities, sexual orientations, gender identity, and sexes.
Additionally, under The Dignity Act, schools will be responsible for collecting and reporting data regarding material incidents of discrimination and harassment. More information about The Dignity Act can be found at www.arlingtonschools.org and at www.p12.nysed.gov/dignityact/.

Office Depot will also give back 5% of your purchases to AMS if you tell them at the register that you would like to benefit AMS in the “5% Back to Schools Program.” Our school’s registration number is 70074731,
Similarly, Target has a limited time program called “Give with Target” in which you can vote for AMS and earn the school $25 gift cards. You need to have a Facebook account.
