NaNaWriMo:
KEEP ROCKING THAT WORD COUNT!!! WE ARE ALMOST THERE!!
Students should keep working on their stories. I am AMAZED and proud of the
incredible commitment to this project by our Team 5 students, and the
creativity you have all shown.
Many Team 5 members have already conquered their word count goals!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS! Keep climbing that mountain!! YOU ARE AMAZING!
NOVEMBER IS NATIONAL NOVEL WRITING MONTH!!! (NaNoWriMo!)
Team 5 is leading the way here at LMS for creative writing mega-stories. We
should be signed up and in progress on our work at the NaNaWriMo website.
Students should write in MS Word or other word processor and SAVE your work.
Periodically, be sure to save, copy and paste your story so far into the word
count validator on the "edit Novel info' tab on the website (once you are
signed in). Your word count will be tallied. We already have writers off to a
wonderful start and working toward their goal count. Great job Team 5!!
We will be working on planning for our NaNoWriMo creative writing in
November. Packets were issued and plot bunnies were unleashed to inspire
creativity.
Students will be asked for an email address in order to sign up for
NaNoWriMo's young writers program. Please call or email me with any questions
or concerns. This is a wonderful program for young writers and the website is
safe and used in many schools.
Encourage creativity in your children--and get ready for some incredible
results!
Newspaper club meets Thursdays in the computer room. All are welcome.
Welcome! Check here for info on Weekly Work packets and due dates. (NO
HOMEWORK will be given in my class. Instead, students will receive packets
of assigned work over a given period of time (usually given Monday and due
Fridays) that will be graded. Some work may be done in class, but some work
outside of class, on your own time, will likely be required.
**PLEASE NOTE THAT LATE PACKETS WILL RECEIVE A GRADE NO HIGHER
THAN A 65. MY GOAL IS TO TEACH RESPONSIBILITY AND MEETING DUE DATES IS A
LARGE PART OF ACADEMIC SUCCESS. STUDENTS THAT STRUGGLE OFTEN DO SO BECAUSE
OF LATE OR MISSING WORK. I'D LIKE TO ENSURE THAT STUDENTS TURN WORK IN ON
TIME, UNLESS IN CASE OF ABSENCE OR OTHER EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCE. I SHOOT
FOR 100% COMPLIANCE WITH DUE DATES...AND THE STUDENTS OFTEN MEET THAT
EXPECTATION.
REMEMBER PARENTS: YOU ARE A PART OF THIS PROCESS. EACH PACKET SHOULD BE
SIGNED BY A
PARENT OR GUARDIAN. THAT WAY YOU KNOW IF IT IS COMPLETE, AND YOU SEE THE
QUALITY OF WORK YOUR CHILD IS DOING.
*******YOU ARE OFF TO A GREAT START. Keep it up!
