FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
Can I send in treats for my child's birthday? We love to celebrate birthdays in our class. We have students. Please be sure to send in napkins. Cookies, cupcakes or ice cream treats are best. NO cakes please. Our lunch and recess period is 11:50-12:30p.m. Our lunch assistant is Ms. Thorne. Do the children have snack daily? Yes, because of our late lunch, students will have 15 minutes each morning for snack. Please send in snacks that can be consumed during this time frame. How much help should I give my child with homework? Homework is intended to be a review of learned skills. You may need to help with directions and guidance in getting started. If your child is spending more than 20 minutes on any given "task" please let me know so we can work together to help your child. Should I still read to my child ? Definitely! Reading a book that is more challenging to your child can improve their vocabulary. Discussing the book will enhance comprehension skills. Listening to adults read helps promote fluency. How can I help my child learn the sight vocabulary? Put the sight words handed out at Back To School Night on flashcards and work with them everynight. In addition you can add color words and number words to the pile. |
