Recorder has Begun!
Please make sure that you practice 5 times a week. Each student in each class has marked in their planners the five days they wish to practice. Put a check by the days that you do. Also if you practice more then 10 minutes on those days, write it down. I will be looking at the practice times of each student around report card time. Listen carefully in class, I will say "practice page [whatever it is] for next time."
For the next report card I will be checking three things:
1) the theory papers we will continue to do, 2) practice times, and 3) belts.
We are doing a version of Black Belt recorder. It is not the same as the other classes. I have picked 9 of the pieces in our recorder books and made them "belt songs." We will be talking in class about this soon.
For now practice very carefully, making sure your fingers are all-the-way covering the holes and you are getting a nice gentle sound. For starters it will seem slow what we are doing but as we get into the belts, we will pick up speed. Slow is good in the beginning so that you really get a good foundation.
