May, speech-language pathologists and audiologists try to spread the word
about communication disorders and the services available to help individuals
with speech, language or hearing problems. Some quick facts:
* 28 million people in the U.S. suffer from hearing loss
* 16 million people in the U.S. have a speech and/or language disorder
* Hearing loss is the most common congenital disorder in newborns
*Ten percent of children entering first grade have a moderate to
severe speech disorder
