| The third grade music classes always begin the year learning about dynamics,
rhythm, and beat. They sing lots of songs and play instruments to show their
understanding of the different concepts. Students will create small
compositions and will have opportunities to perform during the school year.
Right now, students are learning how to notate and recognize quarter and
eighth notes in music. They are also learning about echo songs and some have
already sung solos for the class.
In the spring, the third grade classes will all learn how to play the
recorder. This will help them learn to read music and will also prepare them
for the instrumental music program that begins in fourth grade. Please look
for a letter to come home in January that will explain more about the
recorder.
