| The Fourth Grade continues to add to the concepts that they learned in third
grade. Special emphasis is on different musical forms, and students will use
singing, instruments, and movement to show their understanding of form. In
January they will learn about jazz, and throughout the year they will be
introduced to many different composers. Students are encouraged to research
these composers on their own and share their findings with their classmates!
Right now, the fourth graders are learning about different forms of music.
They are learning to sing in canons which prepares them for singing in
different parts in chorus. Your child recently learned a song from Australia -
ask them to teach it to you! Mr. Calderone is teaching them about form
through the use of American Folk songs. It's great to hear the children sing
them as he accompanies them on his guitar!
