| Fifth grade music classes learn more complex rhythms and will demonstrate
them through singing and playing various instruments. They also sing more
challenging songs, often in two or three part harmony. There are many group
activities, including a composer project that they will work on in the
spring. Listening skills will continue to develop as students listen to a
wide variety of music from many time periods.
During the months of September and October, students are learning about blues
music. They will have opportunities to play the twelve bar blues on various
instruments and to sing several blues songs. They will also listen to
different examples of blues music and will spend time composing their own
blues song as a class. Ask your child to sing their composition for you!
