Principals Message
June 8, 2009
Dear Parents and Guardians,
School will soon be out but summertime can be loaded with learning experiences. Research tells us that students who do not participate in summer learning opportunities begin each new school year up to two months behind students who do participate in educational opportunities, including day camps, organized sports, and trips to the zoo, park or library. Summer learning opportunities don't have to be expensive. They just have to be engaging and fun. Here are a few ideas for you to consider this summer:
*visit the local library and sign your children up for summer reading experiences. Read EVERY DAY!
*check out local museums;
*visit local nature centers, zoos, and state parks;
*plan a couple of day trips to historical sites in our area;
*practice math daily, such as fractions during cooking or measuring items in the house. Play math games to reinforce previous learned facts;
*limit TV watching and video games, encourage outdoor play and physical activities.
You might also find it helpful to keep a schedule during the summer that is similar to your school year schedule. continuing daily routines that involve structure and limits provide balance and keep children engaged.

School Day Hours
School opens for the day at 8:20 a.m. Building security policy requires all doors to be locked during the school day (8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.) Please do not drop children off prior to 8:20 a.m. You may sign up for early morning child care through the Friends and Fun Program. Students need to be in their classroom promptly at 8:30 for attendance, parents need to sign in late arrivals in the nurse's office.

These doors will not be unlocked until 3:00 p.m. Please remain in the cafeteria until you locate your child and exit through the rear doors. The buses leave school grounds at 3:15 p.m. Cars are not permitted to drive in the front driveway once the buses park for loading.
Please park in the back lot where there is more room.
