Unit Test #9 (Minerals & Rocks) Period 4-5 will take it on Wed 4/22 Period 5-6 will take it on Thurs 4/23 Part 1 Multiple Choice will be 40 questions, based primarily on the ESRT Pages 6 & 7. Study your review book and any handouts from class. Part 2 Short Answer - 4 parts 1. Explain how each of the 3 rock types forms (sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous.) 2. Know how to use the igneous rock chart on Page 6. Practice with the igneous rock packet we did together in class. 3. Mineral Identification: Know how to test the following properties - hardness, streak color, luster (metallic or non), and cleavage/fracture. (Very similar to the Mineral Lab.) 4. Rock Classification: Be able to classify a rock as either sedimentary, igneous, or metamorphic. You must list at least one observable characteristic for each rock that you classify.
