This is my 6th year teaching at West Road Intermediate. My teaching
experience at West Road has been in both 3rd and 4th grade. Prior to coming
to West Road I taught 4th and 5th Grade in the Pine Plains School District.
Teaching is a second career for me. Prior to teaching I was a legal
secretary in Manhattan. In 2000, I received my Bachelors of Science in
Elementary Education from SUNY New Paltz with a minor in Psychology. I later
received my Masters in Education from The University of New England in
Maine. I truly enjoy every aspect of teaching but find that I am most
passionate about teaching Language Arts. I find great enjoyment in helping
every student develop a love for reading and also in discovering their true
voice as authors. I am thrilled to continue to be a part of West Road
School and the West Road Community.
I live in Rhinebeck with my two daughters. Nicole is 14…(yikes) and Meagan
is 12. We also have a black lab "Mickey" who is 6 going on 1! When we are
not busy running around from sport to sport or tackling
extremely difficult (for me) math homework, we enjoy skiing/snowboarding,
camping, and simply lounging around reading great books.
Our classroom is designed to provide all students with a safe and
nurturing environment that will allow each and every one of them to succeed,
grow, and shine! I expect all of my students to adhere to an established
set of classroom rules, work to their full ability...always, greet each new
challenge with a positive attitude, and to treat themselves and others with
respect and encouragement. Following these guidelines will lead them on the
road to success. I believe that a strong home/school connection is also
necessary for each child's success, therefore, I encourage you to contact me
with any questions or concerns at any time. I am looking forward to a great
year!
