What is the homework policy?

Homework will be assigned on a nightly basis. Math, spelling, and reading/
writing can be expected daily. Homework assigned should take your child no
longer than 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete. Please set aside a designated
time for your child to accurately complete his/her homework. In addition to
nightly homework, your child will have quizzes and tests to study for and
projects will be assigned. Homework is generally not graded, so I
encourage parents to assist their child and check it over to ensure neatness
and accuracy. Homework is assigned to reinforce skills learned in class
that day.

What happens if my child doesn't complete his/her homework or classwork?

I expect eveyone in class to complete his/her homework to the best of their
ability. Homwork and/or classwork that is not complete or is incomplete
will need to be completed at recess time. Assignments not turned in
at the end of the week will need to be done during our class free time on
Friday. In addition, any assignment returned with a "R" (redo), needs to be
completed/corrected and handed back in. Not completing homework/classwork
on a daily basis will result in your child falling behind as he/she will not
be practicing the skills learned in class.

Can I send in treats for my child's birthday?

Yes, we love to celebrate birthdays . Please send a note a day or two in
advance. You may leave the treat in the office or send in with your child
in the morning. The children will have the cupcakes/birthday treat during
their scheduled lunch time.
