About The Teacher
I have been the librarian at Traver Road since 1998 and I can't imagine any place else I'd rather be! I received my Bachelor's Degree in Asian History from Suny University at Buffalo and my Master's Degree in Library and Information Sciences at Suny University at Albany. I live in historic Hyde Park with my husband Jeff, my son Caleb and our pets: Cinder the cat, Pearl our sweet beagle pup, our new kitten Smokey, and our goldfish Thomas (named after my son's favorite train, of course!). Next to Traver, my favorite place in the world is Wells Beach, Maine. I am an avid ice hockey and baseball fan. Most of all, I enjoy reading and talking about the books I read. I believe that it is through conversation and the sharing of opinions that we learn most about texts.

Mission
The School Library Media Program at Traver is designed not only to provide instruction to help both students and staff become independent and efficient library patrons, but also to promote the joy of reading. One of my main goals is to introduce the students to quality children's literature. Over the course of the shcool year, your children will meet new authors, new characters, and explore new genres. They will learn to appreciate different writing syles and illustrating techniques. Another goal is to teach the children how to think critically about informtion: not only the information they read, but also the information they gather. To fulfill this objective, the library provides research materials in both print and electronic formats as well as a wide variety of books for pleasure reading. As your children begin to navigate the library, they will locate resourses and evaluate their choices. It is one of my greatest joys to watch the children name what they are looking for and find it on their own.
