Ask the Librarian

  1. How many books can I take out?
  2. What happens if I forget my books on library day?
  3. What if I lose a book or my book gets damaged?

How many books can I take out?

I let each child take out the number of books that equals their grade:
K and 1st = 1 book
2nd = 2 books
3rd = 3 books
4th = 4 books
5th = 5 books
With each increase in grade level, you get more responsibility!

What happens if I forget my books on library day?

If you forget your books on your scheduled library day you cannot take out
any books. That includes if you only bring back part of your books (if you
have 4 books out and only bring back 2). However, you may come the next
morning and exchange your books or you can wait until the next week and
bring them then.

What if I lose a book or my book gets damaged?

When you take out library books, you are taking the responsibility for those
books. If you lose them or they get ruined they will need to be paid for or
replaced. See Mrs. Hauptmann for directions if this happens to you!
Remember: books like to hide! many times a "lost" book is really just hiding
in or under something. I have a list of places to look.
