Some things don’t change--I look forward to another year of working with our
students and teachers. I find middle school to be both interesting and
challenging. A day seldom goes by that I don't laugh; our students are bright
and funny. I enjoy their visits to the library immensely!
This summer I had the opportunity and privilege to work with other school
librarians from around the state. Our focus was “learning through inquiry.”
It is more important than ever that our students be able to think critically
and ask questions. We encourage our students to not only ask thoughtful
questions, but to seek out the information that may answer their questions.
Because information is so abundant and comes in so many formats, our
twenty-first century students must practice evaluating, analyzing,
synthesizing and sharing information. This is the learning they will take
and use into adulthood.

The mission of the Library Media Program is to ensure that students and
staff are effective users of ideas and information and to promote the
enjoyment of reading, viewing, writing and listening. Our objective is to
assist our students in reaching their personal goals through the skills and
knowledge of life-long learners.
