About The Teacher
This is the 7th year Mrs. Kurdziel has been teaching @ West Road School. Her favorite subjects to teach are all of them! Getting kids excited about reading and comfortable as writers are top priority. As a kid, she was a mathaphobe, but now she loves to teach the stuff. Don't get her started about kids' literature. Some of her favorite books include The Whipping Boy, Al Capone Does My Shirts, A Year Down Yonder, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, Maniac Magee, all of the Harry Potter books, and the entire Lightning Thief series. Gary Paulsen's Dogsong is also a goodie since she's a dog lover. (She has two dogs, one very bright and one who is not so.) She usually weeps uncontrollably at the end of any Newbery Medal-winning book. She also likes singing and playing guitar. Don't ask her to perform though, she's really shy! In her spare time, she enjoys anything to do with soccer and basketball. She considers herself one of the luckiest people on the planet. --as reported to one of her 5th grade students
