Dear Parents,
Thank you for your patience while we deal with the candle fundraiser. At this
point I have tracked the package to Newark. So it appears that our candle
representative will be delivering it to us by Monday late in the day. At this
point we are anticipating a Tuesday morning (8:00-8:40) and Tuesday afternoon
(3:00-4:00) pick up schedule. Thanks again for understanding!!

Dear Parents,
What a great concert we had last night! I love seeing the
students all dressed up and singing! We spent a great deal of time preparing
for this event and it really showed. We worked on our perspective journals-
a favorite activity in here! We also worked on writing focused paragraphs
with a topic sentence (not a favorite ). In science we studied the
monstrous digestion system.
Fundraiser Information:
We have tentatively arranged for pick up of orders on Wednesday 12/16, right
before and right after school. Look for confirmation of this on Monday.

Dear Parents,
It always warms my heart to see the students working so carefully
on the state tests after we worked so hard to prepare for them. Well done!
Students worked this week in a role playing activity as the President of
United States as we learned about the cabinet members. In writing we have
begun our perspective journals. Ask your child what perspective they are
writing from. Our pen pal letters came in and that was exciting! We began
talking about digestion in science. We met with our second grade buddies
this week as we prepare for our Thanksgiving activity with them. It is
amazing to watch your children as caretakers-beautiful!
THANK YOU for handing in Ashokan Permission slips and first deposits.
Our next spelling list will go home on November 30th.

Dear Parents,
I did not send a Friday letter home this week as we had a shorter week. I
will send home work next Friday. The candle fundraiser papers went home
today. This fundraiser is intended to defray individual costs for the
Ashokan trip. If you participate your earnings will affect your individual
fee.
We are having a quiz on the legislative branch of government on Tuesday. A
review sheet went home today.
Reminder:
We have a 1/2 day on Monday for parent teacher conferences.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Malkischer
Dear Parents and Students,
We have a great group of congressional representatives in here. We
are role playing as if we are senators and representatives and we are solving
classroom “issues”. This week the students are writing bills about
appropriate times to get a drink, use the bathroom, and sharpen pencils for
example. They are so motivated!
Please look for the Ashokan Field Trip letter going home today. If you have
any questions about the trip feel free to contact me.
