What is the grading policy?

All grades are based on points earned divided by total points possible.
Tests, quizzes, labs, and homework are assigned specific point values. Using
this system students will be able to calculate their average when grades are
posted (by student ID) in the classroom, which is approximately every two
weeks.

What is the lab requirement?

Laboratory work is an integral part of this course. As mandated by New York
State, successful completion and documentation of 1200 minutes of lab work
is
required in order to take the Regents Exam in June. If a student is absent
the day of a lab, they will need to make it up after school within two weeks.

When is the regents exam and how will we prepare for it?

If students have successfully fulfilled the lab requirement, they will take
the Living Environment Regents Exam in June. We will be working out of a
review book. A letter regarding review book ordering will be sent home with
students in January/February.

How do students get work after being absent?

Students should check the "absent folder" as soon as they return. Here they
will find any handouts that they missed. It is very important that they also
get any missed notes from a classmate. If they missed a lab, they must stay
after school to make it up within two weeks.

week. I am after school two days each week.

Is extra credit avaibable?

There are many opportunities for students to earn "bonus points" throughout
the school year that can be added on to quiz and test grades. In addition,
there are several times throughout the year that bonus points are offered
for bringing in classroom supplies (such as tissue boxes, colored pencils,
and scotch tape)
