National Junior Honor Society

Arlington Middle School is proud to offer a chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. Our chapter of this prestigious national organization recognizes students who reflect outstanding accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership, service, and citizenship. The Arlington Middle School NJHS is open to all current eighth grade students who have achieved and are maintaining an overall 90 average (including sixth and seventh grade). This includes all core and non-core classes.  Students must maintain this average until the end of 8th grade.

Students will be notified of their eligibility after the first quarter report card. They will be given an application to complete along with teacher recommendation forms and a required essay to write. A NJHS advisory committee will review all applicants and overall grades. Students will then be notified in writing of their acceptance. A formal induction ceremony will follow in November.

Once inducted, new members are required to maintain the same level of performance in all five criteria that led to their selection. This obligation includes maintaining grades, good standing in character, leadership, service, and citizenship.

Students are required to attend monthly meetings held during the school year, participate in individual and chapter service projects, chapter fundraising, and fulfill ten hours of individual community service.

Students or parents who have questions regarding the selection process or membership obligations can contact the chapter advisors, Mrs. McCord or     Mr.Sevigny at (845) 486-4480.

CHAPTER ADVISORS: Mrs. Carol McCord,  Mr. Peter Sevigny
