During 2nd grade our Social Studies curriculum emphasizes the following topics:

           Prominent U.S. historical figures

           Holidays celebrated in the United States 

           Map Skills: (Directions, Compass Rose, Map Keys)

           Geography of the United States and the 50 states

           Introduction to New York's location, population, climate, and points of interest.

           Neighborhoods & Communities (Today and Long Ago)

It's going to be a fun and exciting social studies year.  We will also learn to create maps of our own!  Throughout the school year students will use their knowledge of map skills to help develop and create maps of their bedrooms, classrooms, islands, and a community of their own!
