Announcements

Here is the message for the week of November 16th and the 23rd. Please note
there is a half day of school this Tuesday with dismissal at 11:30 because of
the final round of Parent Teacher Conferences.

This week the students are completing a plant and animal unit with Mr. Venier.
There is a unit test on Thursday that includes both vocabulary terms and
essay questions. Please encourage your child to study class notes and the
review guide prior to taking the test. In social studies we are learning
about the Early People of New York. We are focusing on the two large Native
American groups that lived in this area, the Iroquois and Algonkians.
Students will be learning about how Native Americans used natural resources in
their daily lives, how they recorded their history, and how these tribes
governed themselves.

Information about a fall book report has been sent home. Your child should be
selecting an interesting fiction book to read. I will be having many book
conferences with the students this week. Please support your child by
encouraging him or her to read for about 20 minutes each day. Students can
read independently, read aloud to you, or take turns reading with you. Thank
you in advance for your help with the Fall Book Report. The due date is
Wednesday, December 16th.

Have a good week.

Sincerely,
Ms. Thomas
