Here is the message for the week of December 7th. The next two and a half
weeks will be quite busy. The students are working hard preparing for the
Winter Concert. This concert is scheduled for Monday, December 7th at 6:00
pm. We hope you can attend. This week students should continue reading a
chapter book for the Fall Book Report. This is a good week to begin working
on describing the main characters, the setting, and the plot sections.
Please note that the Book Report is due on Wednesday, December 16th.
In social studies we are learning about the Early People of New York. We are
focusing on the two large Native American groups that lived in this area, the
Iroquois and Algonkians. Students will be learning about how Native Americans
used natural resources in their daily lives, how they recorded their history,
and how these tribes governed themselves. In math we are beginning a study of
multiplication, basic facts, and properties. Please encourage your child to
study these facts and continue to work on speed and accuracy through 12 x 12.
This week we will also begin a new science unit of study.
Have a wonderful week.
Sincerely,
Ms. Thomas
