Our Songs and Poems

These are some of the poems and songs we have learned to reinforce curriculum
concepts and for fun! :)

Rags

I have a dog and his name is Rags.
He eats so much that his tummy sags.
His ears flip-flop and his tail wig-wags,
And when he walks he zigs and zags.
He goes flip-flop, wiggle-waggle, zig-zag.
He goes flip-flop, wiggle-waggle, zig-zag.
He goes flip-flop, wiggle-waggle, zig-zag.
I love Rags
And he loves me!

Ermie the Worm

I was walking down the sidewalk, chewing my bubblegum,
Swinging my yo-yo, WOOOOEEEEEE,
When along came Ermie the Worm and he was this big!
I said, “Ermie, what happened?!”
He said, “I ate my breakfast.”

I was walking down the sidewalk, chewing my bubblegum,
Swinging my yo-yo, WOOOOEEEEEE,
When along came Ermie the Worm and he was this big!
I said, “Ermie, what happened?!”
He said, “I ate my lunch.”

I was walking down the sidewalk, chewing my bubblegum,
Swinging my yo-yo, WOOOOEEEEEE,
When along came Ermie the Worm and he was this big!
I said, “Ermie, what happened?!”
He said, “I ate my dinner.”

I was walking down the sidewalk, chewing my bubblegum,
Swinging my yo-yo, WOOOOEEEEEE,
When along came Ermie the Worm and he was this big!
I said, “Ermie, what happened?!”
He said, “I burped.”

Getting Ready By Laureen Reynolds

The bus is near,
I need my sock.
The bus is near,
It's up the block!
The bus is near,
Can't find my shoe.
The bus is near,
What will I do?
The bus is HERE,
I've got to run!
It's time for school.
Let's have some fun!

Friends

Friends, friends, 1, 2, 3,
All my friends are here with me.
You're my friend, You're my friend,
You're my friend, You're my friend,
Friends, friends, 1, 2, 3,
All my friends are here with me.

Amigos

Amigos, amigos, uno, dos, tres,
Todos mis amigos estan aqui.
Tu mi amigo, tu mi amigo,
Tu mi amiga, tu mi amiga,
Amigos, amigos, uno, dos, tres,
Todos mis amigos estan aqui.

The More We Get Together (We know the sign language too!)

The more we get together,
together, together.
The more we get together,
the happier we'll be.
Because your friends are my friends
And my friends are your friends.
The more we get together,
the happier we'll be.

The Hat (Laureen Reynolds)

Mrs. McPrat
Bought a big, fancy hat.
It was covered with berries and fruit.
Then she added a bat
And a fat orange cat,
So it matched her new polka-dot suit.
But then Mrs. McPrat
Quickly figured out that
Her new hat weighed too much for her head.
So she took off the bat
And the fat orange cat,
And she wore it with blue jeans instead.

Parts of a Plant ("Wheels on the Bus" tune)

The roots on a plant grow underground,
Underground, underground.
The roots on a plant grow underground.
Roots are part of a plant.

The stems on a plant hold up the leaves,
up the leaves, up the leaves.
The stems on a plant hold up the leaves.
Stems are part of a plant.

The leaves on a plant are making food,
making food, making food.
The leaves on a plant are making food.
Leaves are part of a plant.

The flowers on a plant are growing seeds,
growing seeds, growing seeds.
The flowers on a plant are growing seeds.
Flowers are part of a plant.

The Itsy Bitsy Seed ("Itsy Bitsy Spider" tune)

The itsy bitsy seed was planted in a hole.
Down came the rain and a sprout began to grow.
Out came the sun and shone down on the leaves.
Now the itsy bitsy seed is a great big grown-up tree!
