Reading and Resource Room
I grew up in Poughkeepsie, and attended schools in Arlington and Spackenkill. After graduating from SUNY Geneseo, I lived in Syracuse, NY, where I met a very special six- year- old boy named Bobby. He has a condition called Angelman Syndrome. People with this syndrome have developmental disabilities, are non-verbal, very energetic, playful, and most of all, very happy. I became Bobby's foster mother and legal guardian, we moved to Poughkeepsie, and I began working as a middle school Special Education teacher in Arlington. Bobby moved into a nearby group home when he was eighteen, and we enjoy weekend visits together. I live with many rescued animals on a small farm and rabbit sanctuary in Lagrangeville.
