Homework Policy

Homework Policy:
Why I Assign Homework:
I believe homework is important because it is a very valuable reinforcement
of what has been learned in class. Also, homework prepares students for
upcoming lessons, teaches them responsibility, and helps students develop
positive study habits as well as help master their organizational skills.

 When Homework Will Be Assigned:
Besides REGULAR HOME ASSIGNMENTS students will be assigned homework Monday
through Friday nights. Assignments should take students no more than one
hour to complete each night’s assignments, NOT including studying for tests
and working on long-range projects. I will give students a notice to study
for tests & quizzes.

Student’s Homework Responsibilities:
1.	I expect students to do their best job on their homework. I expect
homework to be neat and complete. I expect students to do the work on their
own and only ask for help after they have given to the assignments their
best effort.
2. I EXPECT ALL THE ASSIGNMENTS TO BE TURNED IN ON TIME. If homework is
not handed in on the day that it is due, students are asked to complete it
during recess or during choice time, otherwise the assignment will receive a
zero, which is averaged into their homework grade for each subject.
3. Three points are deducted for every day for late assignments.
4. Late assignments are only accepted until the Monday following their
original due date.
5. Assignments that are not handed in within the grace period are given a
zero, which is averaged into their report card grades.

Family’s Homework Responsibility:
Family is the key to making homework a positive experience for their
children. Therefore, I ask that family make homework a top priority by
providing necessary supplies and a quiet homework environment, and by
expecting homework to be done in a matter of fact way preferably before
other
activities each evening. Family will also check that the homework is done
and
sign their child’s planner each night.

If Students DO NOT Complete Homework:
If there is a legitimate reason why a student is not able to finish
homework,
please send a note to me on the day the homework is due stating the reason
it
was not completed. The note must be signed by the parent/guardian. The work
must be made up.
If the student is absent, please try to have someone get the assignments for
the day. If you call the office, I will have the work ready to be picked up.
Absence make-up work is due the day after the student receives it. Extended
absences will have appropriate work make-up time frames.
