| As educators, we are concerned about the increased violence in today's
society, and the children's increased fascination with, acceptance, and use
of violence. Therefore, Noxon Road School in partnership with Sprout Creek
Farm will establish and maintain a "Culture of Kindness" within the school
community.
We believe that every child has a right to dignity, self-esteem, and
personal safety. No one should be able to infringe upon the rights of
another in any harmful way. Infringement of these rights with violent
actions limits a child's freedom to develop. We view all violent actions,
whether verbal, physical, or psychological, as harmful and limiting to a
child's emotional and educational growth.
The faculty, staff and support personnel pledge to provide a safe and
nurturing environment which allows each child the freedom to develop
academically and socially.
As educators it is our role to define, describe, and to deter violence
among children, and between children and adults. Our commitment is to
provide ongoing education to children and suggestions to parents about how
to
lessen the violence in our daily lives.
