    -Historical fiction

    -Historical documents and/or speeches.
Writing and Language Arts
The student will show a growing ability to:
  • Write to convey meaning
  • Edit for correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and capitalization
  • Select and develop a focused topic
  • Create stories from their own imagination
  • Organize their ideas into paragraphs
  • Apply these skills to a variety of genres including:
    -Personal narrative
    -Persuasuve letter and/or essay
    -Biographical sketch
Math
The student will show a growing ability to:
  • Understand place and value
  • Add and subtract with regrouping
  • Multiply using two-digit factors
  • Divide using two-digit factors
  • Add/subtract fractions and decimals
  • Use problem solving strategies
  • Communicate mathematical ideas
  • Reason mathematically
  • Estimate
  • Understand geometric concepts
  • Measure using standard and metric units
  • Analyze data, statistics, and probability
 Social Studies
The student will show a growing understanding of local history through the study of:
  • Native Americans
  • Explorers
  • Colonial Life
  • Revolutionary War
  • Selected events of significance in the development of New York State
Science
The student will show a growing ability to apply scientific process and skills in the study of:
  • Plants and Animals
  • Electricity and Magnetism
  • Weather
  • States of Matter
Computer
The student will show a growing ablity to:
  • Use the computer for research
  • Increase keyboarding skills
  • Use a varity of software available on the file server to enhance the curriculum
