Frequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions
of students and parents.
- Do I need to bring my textbook to class everyday?
- What do I do if I am absent?
- Why do we need to know this?
Do I need to bring my textbook to class everyday?
NO! We are fortunate to have a classroom set of texts, so take
your book
home and leave it there. I will ask you to bring them back at
the end of
the
school year.
What do I do if I am absent?
Get well, first of all. When you return, get the notes you
missed from a
classmate as soon as possible. See me (Mr. O'Connor)for any
missed
assignments. Depending on how long you were out and the nature
of the work,
I will give you a fair amount of time to make it up.
IF YOU MISS A TEST - you will be expected to make it up AS SOON
AS POSSIBLE
(usually within two days).
Why do we need to know this?
There are many important reasons why you need to know the history
of your
country. Here are just a few of them:
1. You live in America, you should know its history.
2. Many men and women made great sacrifices and overcame great
struggles to
make this country what it is today. We pay respect to these
efforts and
sacrifices by studying them.
3. By examining the actions of those that came before us, we can
learn from
both their failures and successes.
4. By studying the injustices of the past, we can better
recognize the
injustices in the world today, and work to erase them.
5. By understanding the government and the political process, we
become
better, more informed voters.
6. You have no idea where your life's path may lead you - prepare
yourself
for anything by learning as much as you possibly can.
