Sewing for Service Club is an exciting new club for people who love to sew and want to help others. Our club is open not only students, but also, teachers, parents, and administrators. Our first project this year will be little pillows with pillow cases for women who have undergone breast cancer surgery. We hope to be finishing these by October 29th. The Dyson Foundation will be accepting them for their patients. In November we are planning to make fleece hats for little ones to be donated to a local women's shelter. We hope to have enough completed by the Holiday Concerts to display them on the tree. January and February will bring a flurry of activity. We'll be making "Comforts for Chemo" quilts for children undergoing cancer treatments. At that time we will raffle off one of the quilts in order to pay for projects already completed and for purchasing more materials. Beginning in March we plan to make neck coolers for the soldiers in Iraq and Afganistan. This is an easy project that our troops really appreciate. If time permits we will make 6 more "Comforts for Chemo" quilts to finish out the year.
