I graduated from Beacon High School in 1967 and went off to college. After 2
years in biology at Cornell and 1 year in political science at SUNY New
Paltz,I left college to work aboard the sloop Clearwater. I returned to
college atSUNY Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse.
Upon graduation I worked for several years in a developmental center while I
substitute taught ande arned my teaching certification at SUNY New Paltz. I
student taught at Arlington and was offered a job that opened up later that
year. I have been at Arlington ever since teaching Bio-Tech, Chem-Tech,
Biology for Living, General Biology, Bio A, Bio B, Regents Biology, Regents
Chemistry, and even a section of world history one year.
I presently teach Contemporary Issues in Biology, both the Biomedical and
Environmental versions.
I am presently in my fourth year of coordinator duties.
The two versions of Contemporary Issues in Biology explores those issues in
the biomedical field and in the environmental field that impact our lives
today. Both courses are taught in a computer room to take advantage of the
most recent information on these issues. The course features traditional
classroom learning, internet research in both individual and group project
settings, and discussions. The environmental issues section presents at the
semiannual Community Science Night.
