 How do I prepare my child for kindergarten?
Research shows us that children whose parents spend time with them 
positively 
interacting are successful in school- and not only in the early years of 
school. This means that as parents it is really important to engage your 
child from infancy in rich language experiences that deepen into important 
conversations as the children grow. Read, play and build with toys. Do 
simple 
things together like matching, sorting, counting and cooking meals together. 
Most importantly, love and care for them, and appreciate every moment of joy.

 How do the children learn how to read?
We use a balanced approach to literacy. We simultaneously build phonemic 
awareness, phonics skills, visual skills, comprehension and fluency. 
Additionally, we integrate reading and writing to build literacy skills. The 
children begin writing about personal experiences and expand into different 
genre.

 Is there a handwriting program?
Yes. We use a research based handwriting program that develops through the 
grade levels. It is called "Handwriting Without Tears."

 Do the children have homework?
Yes. We have based our homework practices on research and best practices, 
including recommendations from The American Academy of Pediatrics. Each 
grade 
level has developmentally appropriate homework that always includes reading 
and suggested activities, e.g., reviewing anchor words and Fry list words, 
math facts.

 How do you teach math?
We use a program called MathLand. The instructional focus is on building 
concepts and an understanding of purpose as well as number facts and skills.
