Sixth grade classes, periods 6, 7 and 9, are now reading the novel, Among the
Impostors, by Margaret Peterson Haddix. It is the sequel to the first book we
read, Among the Hidden. Luke, the main character, now has a fake ID. His name
is Lee Grant, a wealthy(Baron)student, who is at the Hendricks School for
Boys. Jen's father, Mr. Talbot, provided the fake ID for Luke. He is hoping
to make a differnce in the world for shadow children but he is having a
difficult time fitting in.
Students also work independently in Multiple Skills books.
Short stories are also read in class to address skills.
We will also be working on some word attack skills.
Eighth grade classes, periods 1 and 3, are reading the novel, Dead Girls
Don't Write Letters by Gail Giles. Sunny Reynolds is 14 years old and takes
care of her family. Her mother is constantly depressed, her father is an
alcoholic and her older sister, Jazz, is supposedly dead. Sunny never got
along with Jazz. One day Sunny gets a letter from her "dead" sister. Is it
really Jazz or is it an impostor?
Students also work independently in Cloze Connections books.
