How often should students practice?

Students should practice for 30 minutes 5 days a week for a total of 150 
minutes.  Find a quiet location and set a time so that practicing becomes 
part of the daily routine.

What if we need supplies/repairs?

Supplies can be purchased at most music stores.  The Music Box is located in 
Poughquag on Route 55.  Diefes and Mikolajeski is located in Pleasant 
Valley, but delivers to UVMS on Tuesday mornings.  Feel free to order books, 
reeds, valve oil, strings and even send instruments in for repair through 
this service.

We are interested in purchasing a new instrument, what should we do?

Always consult a professional musician prior to purchasing an instrument!!  
There are a lot of poor quality instruments out there that look and feel 
like real instruments.  These instruments are poorly made with cheap 
materials in Asia.  They do not last and most repair people will refuse to 
work on them.  The music staff would love to advise you on purchasing an
