How can I contact Mrs. Ware?
The easiest way to contact me is through email. My email address is
aware@acsdny.org. I check my email at least twice a day.
You can also speak to me by calling the school at 486-4480.
When is homework given?
Homework is usually given a few times a week. I try not to give homework over
the weekend, but it will happens sometimes.
Homework assignments and due dates are listed on the homework
page of this website.
What is the policy for late work?
Students will lose 10 points for assignments that are one day late, and 5
additional points for each additional late day.
Late work will NOT be accepted after we have gone over it in class and never
more than a week past the due date.
When are quizzes and tests given?
A quiz or a test will usually be given every week or two. All tests and
quizzes will be posted on the Homework and Calendar page at the beginning of
the week.
How can I help my child prepare for a quiz or test?
Students are assigned study guides to complete before any test.
Provide a quiet, distraction-free place for your child to study. Offer to
'test' your child based on the study guide. Mark the questions that your
child missed and encourage him/her to focus on studying those questions.
How can my child get extra help?
When possible, I'm available for extra help before tests and quizzes On those
days, I
will be available until 3:30. Students
may stay after school to study for a quiz or test, for extra help, or to
makeup work. All students are welcome to attend after school help sessions.
Of course students are expected to follow after school rules. Students are
ALWAYS welcome to request help whenever they need it. I will do my best to find a
time that works for both of us.
What if my child is absent from class?
It's a good idea to contact the guidance office if your child is going to be
absent for more than a day or two. The guidance office can collect
assignments from your child's teachers for you to pick up. This way your
child will not be overwhelmed when he or she returns to school. The
phone number for the guidance office is 486-4483. The guidance
councelor for Team 3 is Mrs. Riggins-Stabile.
Work that was assigned before a students absence will be due when the student
returns to class. If it is not handed in at this time, it will be counted as
late.
Students who are legally absent are given two days to make up any missed
homework without having their grades reduced.
Labs, quizzes, tests and other projects must be made up within a week of
returning to school. Students should see me to schedule a time to make up
these grades.
How are grades determined?
All graded work is based on 100 points.
Students quarterly grades are based on the following percentages.
Homework/classwork 20%
Participation 10%
Major Grades: 70%
Quizzes
Tests (tests count twice)
Notebooks
Labs
Projects
TOTAL 100%
