IMPORTANT DATES coming up:
-short story will be started in class 10/26-10/30; then all independent 
work.  Final copy is 20 points of the research project and will be due Fri. 
12/11

PLEASE RETURN ALL OUTSTANDING BOOKS!!

 If books are lost, a check can be made out to Arlington Central School 
District.  Book prices are listed below:
Alas, Babylon: $16
Cry, The Beloved Country: $17
The Princess Bride: $12
Romeo and Juliet: $13
The House on Mango Street: $16
The Contender: $12

*Students will not be issued another book until they have returned or paid 
for the book that is out*

The Final Portfolio is assembled in the following way:

-Students will choose 4 essays they have written throughout the year that 
reflect their best work.
-These 4 essays will be added to the research paper grade.
-On June 7-11TH ALL high school English students will take an in-class 
essay exam on a grade-level critical lens quotation.
-On June 7-11TH ALL high school English students will give a written 
self-statement essay that discusses their reflections about their growth 
during the year.
-The 4 essays, research paper, critical lens, and self-statement will be 
averaged together for a final grade.  This grade will be weighted as a 5th 
marking period and averaged with the other 4 to produce a final overall 
average for the year.

****VERY IMPORTANT****
The critical lens and self-statement are school-wide final exams, and 
therefore cannot be made up.  Please make every effort to be in class on 
these days.  If a student is absent, he or she will not be able to re-take 
the exam essays.
