How can I contact Mrs. Peifer?
Mrs. Peifer can be contacted by:
1) e-mail: click on the mailbox in the upper right hand corner
(preferred method-I check for messages often during the day, even
after school and during the summer months).

return your call as soon as possible (calls will not be put
through to classrooms).
3) note: send a note in with your child.
When is Mrs. Peifer available for extra help?
Mrs. Peifer is available after school any day of the week for
extra help. Please provide at least one day's advance notice.
What can my son/daughter do over the summer months to help prepare for school?
Read, read and read! The best way to improve skills necessary
for success in school is to read. Read anything, magazines,
books, newspapers, etc. For a list of suggested summer reading
books, access the Arlington High School Library's web page from
my links page. Encourage your child to complete the required
summer reading assigment. Other suggestions for summer
activities include watching the news (both local and world news),
discussing current events, watching historical movies, visiting
museums and historical sites and viewing tv programs on the PBS
channel, History channel and other educational channels.
What is the testing schedule in Algebra 1B?
There is usually a cumulative test every other Friday and a quiz
on the alternating Fridays. Cumulative tests include topics
covered from the beginning of the school year.
How can my child prepare for a math test?
Test review sheets are provided the day before an exam (usually
Thursdays). Time is given in class to work on the review sheet,
and the answers are provided at the end of class. Students
should redo the sheets for homework and check their answers
against the ones provided in class. Math teachers
are usually available after school on Thursdays for extra help.
In addition, students can attend the Math Learning Center during
free periods (lunch, study hall, study time) for extra help.
Formulas have to be memorized! One effective way of doing this
is to make flash cards, and add to the deck of cards as new
formulas are learned. The cards should be reviewed frequently.
This method is also helpful in learning new vocabulary.
How can I help my child succeed in school?
1) Set high expectations at home.
2) Ensure that your child is getting enough sleep and eating
healthy meals. Prompt, daily attendance is vital to success at
school.
3) Ask to see your child's assignment planner and encourage its
daily use.
3) Check that your child has the necessary school supplies.
4) Support your child's teachers. Communicate with them when
necessary.
5) Be interested in your child's schoolwork. Ask to see
homework, graded quizzes and tests, and other important papers
that are sent home.
6) Read, read, read! Let your child see you reading magazines,
books, newspapers, etc. Encourage your child to read as well.
Read a book together!
7) Check TeacherWeb frequently for information pertaining to your
child's classes. Teachers whose names are underlined on the
Arlington High School faculty page have a TeacherWeb site. Click
on their name to view their site.
