Weekly Announcements

I will use this page to give a brief overview of the curriculum that we will
be covering for the week. I will do my best to update this page at the
beginning of each week. Approximate test dates will also be provided on
this page. I will try to be as specific as possible with these dates, but
it will depend on whether we have covered the necessary curriculum previous
to the test. I will try to provide the specific test date on the "News
Flash" page which may be updated more than once a week. Homework
assignments will not be posted on the website. It is your child's
responsibility to make sure that all of the assignments are written down in
his/her assignment pad and that all of the necessary materials are brought
home.

Here is the update for the week of November 16th and November 23rd. The last
round of parent/teacher conferences is this Tuesday, November 17th.
Dismissal for the students will be at 11:30.

In reading, we will continue with our book, "Skinnybones". As for math, we
will continue working on graphing and data analysis and should come close to
finishing the unit by the Thanksgiving break. In social studies, we have
been looking at the early Native Americans of New York. The students will
most likely finish seeing Ms. Thomas for a unit on the states of matter. The
final test will be on Thursday. After the holiday break, the children will
see Mrs. Provost for a unit on energy.

Mrs. Cantor, a retired 4th grade Arlington teacher, will continue her work
with the students on helping them focus more. I feel very fortunate to have
this opportunity as we were one of only three classes to get chosen to
participate in this program. This program will go on until the middle of
December. This week I'm hoping to have the students use some of the
strategies during their morning work time.
Thank you and have a wonderful week and Thanksgiving holiday!
Sincerely,
Mr. Venier
