I will use this page to give a brief overview of the curriculum that we will
be covering for the week. I will do my best to update this page at the
beginning of each week. Approximate test dates will also be provided on
this page. I will try to be as specific as possible with these dates, but
it will depend on whether we have covered the necessary curriculum previous
to the test. I will try to provide the specific test date on the "News
Flash" page which may be updated more than once a week. Homework
assignments will not be posted on the website. It is your child's
responsibility to make sure that all of the assignments are written down in
his/her assignment pad and that all of the necessary materials are brought
home.
Here is the update for the weeks of January 4th. Happy New Year! I hope that
you had a wonderful and relaxing holiday and break.
In reading, we have been reading Native American legends. We will continue
with a few this week and also practice taking notes on listening passages.
As for math, we will begin the first of two multiplication of larger numbers
units. There also will be the vocabulary quiz that we didn't get to before
the break, although the quiz will be next week, most likely on Tuesday. In
social studies, we will continue looking at the Native Americans of New York
even though the test is done. The students will be working with partners
researching Iroquois life. In science, the children will continue to see
Mrs. Provost for a unit on energy.
With the winter weather upon us, I want to mention that if there is ever a
snow day on a scheduled test day, the test will take place on the next school
day. This includes spelling tests, which will take place on the following
Monday. I hope that 2010 is a wonderful year for you and your family! Have
a great week!
Sincerely,
Mr. Venier
