| I will use this page to give a brief overview of the curriculum that we will
be covering for the week. I will do my best to update this page at the
beginning of each week. Approximate test dates will also be provided on
this page. I will try to be as specific as possible with these dates, but
it will depend on whether we have covered the necessary curriculum previous
to the test. I will try to provide the specific test date on the "News
Flash" page which may be updated more than once a week. Homework
assignments will not be posted on the website. It is your child's
responsibility to make sure that all of the assignments are written down in
his/her assignment pad and that all of the necessary materials are brought
home. Since I am using this website, I will not be using the "School Call"
phone system.
Here is the update for the week of October 6th. The next two weeks will
be four day school weeks. There will still be a spelling test at the end of
each week. In reading, we will continue our work with "Skinnybones" by
Barbara Park. We have finished place value in math. The test will take
place on Tuesday. Our next unit will be on data analysis and graphing.
Please also continue to study and review the math facts with your child.
Our daily quizzes will continue. In social studies, we have begun looking
at Chapter 1, "New York's Geography". The students have been doing some
vocabulary work for this chapter. Science will continue with Mrs. Thomas
this week. The students are studying the states of matter.
The permission slips for our first field trip to the Huguenot Historical
Society in New Paltz were sent home last week. Please return them as soon
as possible if you have not already done so. Finally, the book orders have
still not come in yet, although I expect them at any time now. Sometimes,
they are delayed at the beginning of the year as many teachers are ordering
at the same time. Thank you and enjoy the short weeks.
Sincerely,
Mr. Venier
